This Week's Confession
57 years old · Fairmount · Nonprofit Education
What do you earn per year?
"As a vice principal at a Philly charter school, my yearly salary is $108,000. I started in the classroom in 1997 and my salary was $34,000."
Rent or own?
"I own the house I grew up in. I want to say my parents purchased our home for $68,000 in 1971. It blows my mind that homes in our neighborhood are starting at half a million dollars. I would never be able to afford that today."
Biggest money stressor right now?
"My youngest son is graduating from Penn State this year. I told my kids to stay in state or else we wouldn't be able to afford for them to get a higher education. We'll have loans to pay off for a few more years so I'd go with that."
Money Tip for our readers
"Nothing crazy, just save before spending. $800 of every paycheck has gone into my savings for as long as I can remember. Shop very infrequently and try to enjoy a nice meal out every once in a while because we still need to live it up a little!"
